Movie: Magic

The movie, Magic, starring Anthony Hopkins  as a twisted, love-struck ventriloquist, certainly did the art of ventriloquism very few favors.  In fact, shortly after it was released in 1978 we even had a couple customers call Maher Ventriloquist Studios to cancel their orders for vent figures!  But the work is another piece of the screen-world history with ventriloquist connections.  With that in mind, I've listed this one VHS copy (106 minutes, rated R) for sale on eBay auction:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290672298198

Clinton, please believe me, this is NOT pointed at you, as i admire you GREATLY, & am sorry for your loss of some orders due to this film. This is a GENERAL statement. I am more than just a WEE bit tired of this WONDERFUL film being slammed! I don't see this reaction to "Dead Silence", or the scary figures that even creep ME out. This movie was VERY much in the Alfred Hitchcock style. NO blood & guts, SUPERB acting all around, etc. A real TRUE "edge of your seat thriller". I remember reading in newsyvents when the film came out, where you said you had not seen it, & had no desire to. Yes, it had some bad words, but it takes place in new york city, & grossinger's. Not exactly disneyland. Believe me. I am not at ALL into bad horror flicks with blood & guts & constant swearing. HATED what Steven King did to clowns with "IT"! But this really was a first class film, & was properly rated. So any adult, who saw this, & thinks all ventriloquists are pshycos, needs more help than "Corky" did. JMHO Bill Smith.

  2. It would be a dull world if we all had the same opinions. :-)
